Our History

Trinity Baptist Church began as a mission of the Madison Baptist Association in March of 1987. There were 8 local churches that sponsored our church, and a core group of 10 or so brave pilgrims began the journey. The church met in the United Rubber Workers Union Hall on Highway 20, in Madison until moving into a sanctuary and education building built in the summer of 1988 with much volunteer help. The church officially constituted on March 20, 1988. The purchase of 16 acres of property on Hughes Road was an important step of faith in the early years of the church.

In 1995 the church constructed additional education and fellowship space. The upstairs of this unit was completed in the winter of 2001. The church called three full time staff members in the spring of 2001 to strengthen the depth of ministry at Trinity in the areas of youth and pre-teens, music and senior adults, and education and missions.  In 2008 our church called Amy Hatchett as our first full time Minister of Children and Families.

Trinity Baptist presently has over 750 members with an average of over 300 in Sunday school, and around 450 in worship on Sundays. There has been healthy and steady growth in the last several years and the church has worked faithfully to provide space for all who want to be a part of our community of faith.

In the spring of 2005 we added worship space in our sanctuary, nearly doubling our seating capacity. In the summer of 2009 our church moved into a 15,000 square foot education and fellowship space, which includes new space for our youth. The church is in the process of renovating our existing space as well. We are thankful that our renovations and new building space are free of any remaining financial debt.

Our church has a passion for hands on missions giving and action. We actively participate in local ministry here in Madison, in our county, state, nation and world. Our church has strong ties to the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and the Alabama Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, and continues to provide opportunities for giving toward The Southern Baptist Convention, The Alabama Baptist Convention, and the Madison Baptist Association.
