Trinity Baptist Church began as a mission of the Madison Baptist Association in 1987 along with four other mission points in our county. There were 8 local churches that sponsored our church, and a core group of 10 or so brave pilgrims began the journey. The church met in the United Rubber Workers Union Hall on Highway 20 until moving into a sanctuary and education building built in the summer of 1988 with much volunteer help. The church officially constituted on March 20, 1988. The purchase of 16 acres of property on Hughes Road was an important step of faith in the early years of the church. In 1995 the church constructed additional education and fellowship space. The upstairs of this unit was completed in the winter of 2001. The church called three full time staff members in the spring of 2001 to strengthen the depth of ministry at Trinity in the areas of youth and pre-teens, music and senior adults, and education and missions. Trinity Baptist presently has over 700 members with an average of over 300 in Sunday school, and around 450 in worship each Sunday. There has been healthy and steady growth in these days and the church is working faithfully to provide space for any who want to be a part of our community of faith. A Long Range Planning Committee updated our Master plan for the church property (16 acres) in the spring of 2003. A Phase 1 Building Committee helped the church work the details of a plan for adequate ministry facilities. In the spring of 2005 we dedicated the addition of new worship space in our sanctuary. A new education and fellowship facility is underway. Our church has many areas of hands on missions giving and action. Among them are faithful gifts to the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, Alabama Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, The Southern Baptist Convention, The Alabama Baptist Convention, and the Madison Baptist Association. |
