Thursday, 7/5/2007- Today was a bitter-sweet day. On my mission project, we planted a garden. We went to a community where some people can't afford food, or they are disabled and can't get food. We finished the garden and were all very happy yet sad at the same time. The people who were the bosses of everything grew up in the community. They said hey wanted to make the community nice again, so it was very sad to say goodbye; the couple was very nice and they said their prayers had been answered because we showed up. Some people from the community came and gave us watermelon too, and they asked us what we were doing. It made me and everybody else feel really good about what we were doing. We went back on campus and during break we went to the movies. We got back and ate and went to our very last worship. After that we went to church group devotions; then we left and went to a talent show. Our curfew got lifted to 11:30 so all of the other youth groups and us all hung out outside of the rooms, saying goodbye to people we wouldn't see the next day.

Wednesday, 7/4/2007 - "Imagine Equality" - The theme for today was equality and fairness. In our morning devotional we thought about sharing with others and making things equal. We also prayed for our imagination to grow to help us imagine what it would be like if everyone was treated equally.

This morning we left early for morning celebraton and got seats in the front for the first time this week! In honor of the Fourth of July, the staff dressed in American colors with flags stuck in their hats and ponytails. Our verse for the day was 2 Corinthians 8:14: "At the present time your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need. Then there will be equality."

In Bible Study we did several activities showing us how it felt to be unequal. One activity used multi-colored puff balls worth different amounts of points for different colors. Each person chose five puff balls and would play a guessing numbers game against someone else to win puff balls. After a few rounds, the people with the highest number of points were allowed to make rules which, of course, benefitted themselves. At the end of the game we sat in order of our points and discussed how we felt about where we placed. Next, our group brainstormed ways we could help the homeless and others in our community.

After worship was the chaperone hunt. Each Bible study group had to hold hands and find as many chaperones as they could in 30 minutes. Once the hunt was over, the leaders handed out popcicles while we watched fireworks.

Tuesday, 7/3/2007 - Today I learned how to accept someone that I would not normally accept. Since I judge people alot, I have chosen to talk to get to know someone that I would not usually talk to. They are mainly the people who wear baggy pants and I thought they were bad. I now realize that they aren't bad and they are actually nice people.

Monday 7/2/2007 - Today after breakfast we went to opening celebration. It was lots of fun and with me not being a morning person they still woke me up and got me pumped for the day! During Bible study we talked about being still and listening to God and it really helped me to stop and get my mind focused on this week. My Bible study leader's name is Danny and he is lots of fun. My mission project this week is painting this lady's house but first we had to do scraping to get all of the old paint off of the outside of the house. I really enjoy this mission project because it gives me the chance gto really get to know the other campers in my Bible study group. I made lunches today with another girl and so I had the chance to get to know her better and then I talked to other people while scraping off paint. After we got back from our mission site we had free time and today I just chilled out 'cause I was super tired. We went to dinner and then between dinner and worship Elizabeth and I made T-shirts for the rec party with our group name on it. Worship was good. We were late because there was a big storm that blew over so we had to wait for it to pass. After worship we came back to our room, changed, and went to the rec party! The rec party was a blast! From tug-of-war to slip-n-slide to battleship it was fun all around! My group didn't win but we had lots of spirit and lots of fun!
