Ministry to Preschoolers & Children
The Preschool & Children’s Ministry of Trinity partners with parents and families in the spiritual education and formation of children.
At church, we want to create an environment of safety, fun, and learning where children can encounter the living God for themselves and learn about God’s work in the world.
On Sunday mornings, we offer age-graded classes at 9:40. We make Sunday School a meaningful time of Bible lessons and activities, as well as a great time of fun and relationship building! We use the Deep Blue by Cokesbury Publishing.
Music from the lips of children is an exquisite expression of praise to our great God of love. Children’s Choirs meet on Wednesday nights from 6:00-7:00 pm. We have a choir for 4-year-olds – 2nd grade. Our choir for older kids is 3rd-6th grades. For more information, email Gayle Lavish, Music Assistant for Children’s Choirs.

When you are in classes or meetings on Sunday or Wednesday nights, we provide a trained staff of teachers to care for your child. We are dedicated to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for children while at church.

Fall and Spring Neighborhood Blitz
Families are invited to sign-up for a missions project together twice a year! In November and again in March or April, we have a neighborhood blitz.
Families can sign up to help with a community garden, thrift store, or other projects. There will also be child-friendly projects at the church for any age. Childcare will be provided through 5 years old.
Trinity’s Preteen Ministry partners with families of 5th and 6th grade students. During the time of transition between the Children’s Department and Youth Department, Preteens participate in a wide variety of events, outings, and service projects just for them.
During Sunday School for preschooler, teachers will guide preschoolers as they learn Bible truths and stories in developmentally appropriate ways. We use the Deep Blue Curriculum by Cokesbury Publishing.
During Worship, we offer Extended Session care for preschoolers ages six weeks to three years. To find your child’s class, please visit the Preschool Welcome Area.
Four and five-year-olds can participate in Worship activities designed just for preschoolers. They will be invited to leave the Worship service before the sermon and join their leaders.

Safety and Security
We are grateful for the opportunity to care for your child. Please review the information below if you have questions about our safety and security policies.
What to Bring
Please bring disposable diapers, plastic bottles, cups with lids, pacifiers or other soothing items, and extra clothes. Please make sure that your child’s belongings are clearly labeled with his or her name. Aside from a small personal item, please do not bring toys from home.
For your convenience, a Nursing Area is available in the Infant Room. We ask that fathers and older siblings wait elsewhere while you nurse.
For the protection of the children in our care, we cannot accept a child with fever, green nasal discharge, a persistent cough, vomiting, or diarrhea. In addition, we ask that you not leave children in our care who have been exposed to a contagious illness within the last 24 hours.
No medication will be administered by preschool workers. (In Emergency situations, Epi Pens can be administered as prescribed).
Snack Time and Allergies
Toddlers and older preschoolers might be offered a snack of goldfish crackers, animal crackers, or Cheerios. If other snacks are offered, the teachers will post an Allergy Alert Sign.
If your preschooler has food or insect allergies, please let us know. You can pick up an allergy information form at the Preschool Welcome Desk.
For your child’s safety and security, at least two adults will be present in each classroom, except in the event of an emergency or special situation. Every volunteer has completed a background check before they are permitted to work with children. Workers will not take children to the bathroom alone. They will assist children only when asked.
Check-In and Drop-Off
Check-In is a critical part of our safety plan. Each child must be registered when they first attend. Please visit the Preschool Welcome Area, and someone will be glad to guide you through this process. When you take your child to the classroom, please wait at the door for a teacher to welcome him or her into the room. For the protection of the children, we ask that parents wait at the door so that we are better able to monitor traffic in and out of the room.
Please sign-in your child on the sign-in sheets posted outside of each classroom. Be sure to include any additional information (allergies, potty needs, etc) that a teacher might find useful. A worker will give you a Preschool Security Card, which will be used as a claim ticket at pick up time.
At times children cry when being separated from their parents—this is a normal part of the developmental process, and our volunteers are prepared to help your child through this time of transition. Separation becomes easier as children become used to the routine. We encourage parents to bring their children regularly.
Check-out and Pick-Up
Please knock and show your Security Card through the window of the door. Please wait at the door for your child to be brought to you. This helps other children who have not yet been picked up to continue enjoying their time in their classrooms. We ask that only parents pick up preschoolers.
Choir (September – April)
Trinity boasts four children’s choirs. The Cherub Choir for three and four year-olds meets on Wednesday evenings at 5:30 p.m. in B102. The Carol Choir for Kindergarten and First Grade meets in B100. The director and workers plan music activities which teach the children music reading readiness skills. In addition, they introduce music and singing which engenders joyful participation.
These choirs lead in worship once a semester and are involved in a Christmas music presentation in December. Children’s Choir brochures are available in the gathering area.
Mission Friends (August through May)
Mission Friends provides meaningful learning experiences for children age 3-5. Missions Education experiences help children understand the church’s role in loving those around us and around the world in the name of Jesus.
Learning about missional living is an important component of faith formation. Classes meet on Wednesday nights from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Three, Four, and Five Year Olds meet in B108.
