Our Purpose and Identity

The dream of Trinity Baptist Church is to be a healthy family of faith that serves God’s purpose in this world.

Our mission in the Madison community and its surrounding areas is to facilitate the nurture, awakening and development of faith.

We value quality, open inquiry, authenticity in relationships and ministry and affirm that God uses both women and men as we work to fulfill our mission and pursue our dream.

Our style is to be inclusive in spirit and innovative in approach.

Our methodologies are Outreach, Education, Missions, Worship, and Nurture, which are based on the Great Commission and Great Commandment.

1. We Value Our Relationship with Christ

Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of our faith. We demonstrate His love, grace, and mercy to others as guided by the Great Commission.

2. We Value the Bible

We value the Bible as the inspired word of God. It is the foundation on which ­we build our faith. We encourage all ages to learn and apply God’s teachings into their minds, hearts, and lives.

3. We Are Baptist

We value the traditions of our Baptist heritage, including believer’s baptism, the autonomy of the local church, the priesthood of all believers, the freedom of religion, and the right to interpret scripture under the leadership of the Holy Spirit. We affirm the confessional statement found in the 1963 edition of the Baptist Faith and Message.

We are happy when people from varied backgrounds discover Trinity because we are glad to be inclusive of all people discovering Christ.

5. We Are Missions-Minded

We believe in sharing the love of Christ wherever we can to everyone we can reach at home and around the world. We encourage missions engagement as a church and as individuals. We fund missions. We pray for missions. We teach our children about missions. We focus on missions in everything we do.

Men and women are embraced as they discover ways to use their gifts in service and worship of the Lord.

7. We Value Belonging

We care for one another in a healthy way, believing life happens best in fellowship. Church is more than just a place we go or something we do. Trinity is a spiritual home where friendships are found, children grow up together, and every person can feel he or she belongs.

8. We Nurture Growth

We are a safe environment for children, youth, and adults as they discover and grow in their faith. We rejoice in providing opportunities to pray for one another, cultivate faith, practice discipleship, and explore God’s calling in every life.

We value open inquiry and a genuine desire to learn more about God. We are comfortable being ourselves in our faith journey allowing us to share God’s love in an approachable and believable way.

We encourage and pray for each other in an atmosphere of grace, love, and acceptance. We share each other’s burdens and rejoice in each other’s victories. We encourage our church and our community to be a reflection of God’s love.

We value worship that honors God and inspires our congregation to grow closer to God. People of all ages participate through arts, prayer, preaching, and scripture.

12. We Are a Congregationally-Led Church

We are all members of the body of Christ and see each member as having unique talents that contribute to the ministries and function of the church. Committees and members provide leadership with the guidance of the ministerial staff.
